3 Tips for Overwhelmed Vata Entrepreneurs

Oct 17, 2023

You know that feeling of having a million ideas for your spiritual business but being paralyzed as to which one to act on first 🀯?

How about the feeling like you are constantly behind and just trying to keep up πŸƒπŸ»‍♂️ with your to-do list and monthly goals?

And let's not forget about the feeling of wanting to have a social media plan πŸ’», but then jumping ship when it is time to sit down and create one.

While it may seem like there is no rhyme or reason to the daily struggles of an entrepreneur, the truth is that all of these thoughts and feelings relate to a specific energy, the Vata dosha πŸ’¨. For those who are newer to Ayurveda, when out of balance, the Vata dosha represents the anxiety and overwhelm πŸ˜– we feel. When there is too much heightened and unstable energy, it leaves us feeling chaotic and unorganized, kind of like spinning or wheels with no where to go πŸŒ€.

The root of Vata issues comes from the cold chill of fear πŸ₯Ά. I mainly work with clients who have a deep fear of commitment and trust in their work, fear of being seen πŸ€‘ in their wholeness and a fear of failure.

If I show up fully and put my WHOLE self out there and succeed, will I be able to maintain it πŸ€”? Or fall flat for everyone to see?

OR

Is it even possible for 'me' to be successful and have the life I want to live?

OR

What if people only like the segmented version I show them? What if they shame and ridicule the parts of myself that I have kept hidden 🀫?

Sound familiar? While these fears can feel real and to a certain extent they are, they are also the soil for your greatest success ⭐️. I recently have been watching the 'Beckham" documentary and have been finding it so parallel to the journey of an entrepreneur. After being disqualified from the World Cup match in 1988, Beckham's home team lost the game and he felt utterly humiliated and responsible. Not only did he have to deal with the guilt and shame of losing on a personal level, the world was mirroring back to him exactly what he felt. He was emotionally abused and completely torn down by the media, football fans and literally anyone walking down the street. He would get spit on, cursed at and even pushed around a bit 😟. The constant torment was enough to drive anyone in a downward spiral of depression.

But I couldn't help but think how the universe mirrors back to us what we think we are πŸ˜‡. Beckham's deep shame and guilt for getting disqualified was showing up in his physical reality. The universe wanted him to face the thing he so desperately wanted to disappear from, because she knew it would be his greatest transformation πŸ¦‹.

That is exactly what he did. After experiencing the most shameful part of his life and career in front of the whole world, Beckham made the choice to use it as soil for his success 🌻. A part of him deep down, trusted his gifts and abilities and knew he could rise again. He quite literally transformed before the world's eyes and built one of the most successful, soccer careers πŸ₯³

Inspiring AF, right? So now that you know your greatest fear is equivalent to your greatest potential for success, let's get into the mechanics of howwww?"

The energetics of a Vata imbalance represent the elements 'air' and 'ether', which can bring chaos, disorganization, anxiety, fear and overwhelm 😱. What balances these energies are the elements 'fire' πŸ”₯, 'water' 🌊and 'earth' πŸ’š. What Vatas are really craving is the need to ground into a structure, practice discipline with their habits and own their unique flow

Ground into a Structure

Hands down, I see my Vata clients struggling to find a structure the most. Whether that is creating a social media plan, setting goals for the year or quarter or having a clear to-do list for the week ahead, they resist hard 🀦🏼‍♀️ when we first try to implement the earth element. This is because Vata's have a fear that their freedom will be taken away if they create these structures. They are very in tune to their creative side and have worked hard to choose a career that does not jeopardize it πŸ’ͺ🏻, so the idea of their authenticity being ripped away from them is terrifying. Often what Vatas hear when I say structure is "follow someone else's way of success" or "you have to work a typical 9-5 day like everyone else".

What I actually mean is - "let's find a structure that honors your creativity and unique way of flowing through the world". "Let's create a strategy that is built off your incredible intuition" ✨. You are the CEO. You make your own rules, but alas, there has to be some rules for anything to get done πŸ€“.

Practice Discipline with Habits πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ🏻

Let's face it, a great deal of our time on Earth is having to do the boring, mundane things. While David Beckham comes off as the hot, otherworldly talented soccer player, he only got there from some good ole fashioned hard work. You have to be dedicated to your craft in order to see results. Once your goals and structure are in place, it is time to practice, practice, practice. This is where you fall in the mud and assess what is not working and give yourself three pats on your back for what is. The 100th fall will make you feel like it is never going to be possible for you. The101st try will remind you why you started this crazy endeavor in the first place πŸ˜˜πŸ˜….

Find Your Unique Flow 🌊

Throughout my six years as a business owner, I have learned that my business is living, breathing entity and just so happens to be my identical twin sister πŸ‘―‍♀️. When I feel a wave of sadness and grief, my business feels this too 😒. When I my fists are clenched with rage and fury 😑, my business feels it. When I am beyond stoked 🀩, my business claims this too. I have learned that riding the waves of my business is very similar to accepting and feeling my emotional waves. Without this connection, I become numb and robotic πŸ€– with my day to day practices. I resist the beautiful flow and rhythm of life pulsing through my business.

Your business is going to bring you joy, but with that also comes grief. You will know passion, but only if you welcome in frustration. These polarities go hand in hand and make this wild entrepreneurial experience damn worth while πŸ˜‰.
